Here's a good one for your Black Books lads
Skoda Fabia 2002 and 2003 in the last two weeks I have had four of these cars in with faults, the first car was outside temp sensor fault, the second was wide band O2 sensor heater fault, number three was coolant temp sensor fault and number four today was no comms with ABS control unit, with each of them i traced the fault and checked continuity from ECU to sensors and on each one the fault was caused by the same thing,

The wiring loom on the N/S/F inner wing under the battery has the washer pipe inside the loom,YES INSIDE and it is made of hard black plastic, on each car i have repaired the pipe has split and washer fluid has eaten it's way through the plastic covering of the wire and corroded the copper into black dust,
You have to replace all the wires contaminated or replace the front loom,I find replacing each length of wire soldering and heat shrinking the soldered joints makes a good repair and would not recommend taping these joints as they are in a low spot in the chassis and may at a later date get water ingress, I also cut the washer pipe out of the loom and reroute, its a bit messy but still a good job allow 5 or 6 Hrs,

    Regards Tom
