Early BMWs suffering from this fault were usually caused by corroded reluctor rings, If later type as described by Graham it sounds similar to a Punto I did recently with same symptoms. New wheel bearing/hub flange cured it. Obviously the fault was not apparent until you fixed the wheel sensor fault as the system would have been inactive. Don't let the customer blame you for this one. you will need to use a duel trace scope to identify the faulty hub as the system doesn't know anything is wrong. Mike
