I was not sure how relevant these were to the task so i cleared them and a rescan the only code to return was the p0671 for the glow plug so i disregarded this one .
the red immobiliser light goes out and we have replaced the ignition switch, with a new one from ford as they are a common failure the switch has 4 wires 3 of which are live and the 4th wire shows a live when key is turned to the crank position.
the vehicle can be started if the key is held in the crank position and power is applied to the starter motor relay load side pin 87.
we have power at pin 30 on the relay
this is now where i am lost, the controls side of the relay ( both sides pins 85 /86 ) going by auto data are controlled by the PCM. and both sides show 2.5 volts all the time which looks like a bias voltage.
which suggests the wires are connected to the PCM
in my mind if the imoberliser was blocking a start it would block more than just the starter, and it should give me a code .
is this a common fault ?
any help would be gratefully received
