Year of Manufacture *: 2009 (59)
The car was towed in to me as a non-starter by another garage.
Many fault codes, a lot of them relating to CANbus issues.
After lots of work and the use of a genuine diagnostic tool I was unable to operate the clutch and found the clutch actuator to be faulty. I had no clutch codes at all of any kind. The other garage said "well we got clutch codes and cleared them". OK, moving on. One new clutch actuator later, I can now teach the clutch with no errors. Now the gear position teach "fails with errors", but no fault codes and no description of what the errors may be.
The live data that appears relevant:-
Gear engaged:invalid
position of the gear lever: invalid
Program selector:works correctly
Gear engagement actuator ref value: 0
Gear selection actuator ref value: 0
Gear reference value: invalid
Gear engagement status: invalid
I know these can be a bit of a pig but...
In the process the engine ECU and BSI have been to Actronics and they have declared they are working ok (The engine ECU measured a very low resistance to earth on one of the CANbus lines).
The Gearbox ECU has been to ECU Testing and again been declared good.
The gearbox wiring loom has been stripped, inspected, measured and re-covered. The vehicle loom to the gearbox ECU has been stripped and found to have previous repairs, which have all been tested, as have supply, earth and CANbus wires.
Does anyone have any technical documentation on the system or any experience of these systems?
Shaun
