MB were doing these as a replacement Foc up to 10 years old.I guess this car is past it.As you have suggested yourself,you are dealing with brakes and would suggest do the job properly or not at all.The unit is around £900 exchange from MB.No coding reqd,but you will need diagnostics and a pressure bleeder to complete the job.
