Yes I bought a 54 plate Punto for £150(Roof Damaged and was a write off) just before we started to offer Eprom work. At the time you had to de-solder the micro chip from the curcuit board and with a bit of software could read the chip and write the logic to a blank transponder to start the car made a killing. It was brill in a lost key situation.
That was the best £150 I ever spent. That chip had been on and off god knows how many times but we learned how to do it to a fine art.
I would curtainly recommend it. You can buy from Ebay or scrap yards just make sure the car runs etc.
