Is the key slot recognising that you've removed the card? I've repaired one before because the bit that pushes on a switch when the key is in/out had broken. Seem to remember interior lights wouldn't come on when key removed and remote central locking didn't work. Also, I believe everything is meant to switch off when the drivers door opens - does it recognise the door opening.

I can't remember the exact sequence of it switching off, I try and escape the French rubbish as quickly as possible.
