Traction control requires that the engine management responds to demands from the ABS for torque reduction. As the way the engine would respond to this request when it is nursing a fault would be unpredictable, the ABS simply turns traction control off if it receives information from the engine saying it has a fault code.

VAG systems will often flag DTC's saying "check DTC memory of XXXX controller" referring to another controller.
Airbag systems and instruments are another case. If the airbag fuse is removed for instance the instrument cluster logs a warning lamp fault, when the airbag is re-powered it sees a fault with the instrument cluster. Then it is necessary to clear the code in the instruments before clearing the code in the airbag system or it won't clear down (had this several times with customers pulling fuses looking for one that's blown).
