I replaced a BSI on this van a couple of months ago and last week it came back in with right side lights out. After checking it out, put an old 2nd hand unit in and all lights and illumination circuits were working correctly.
Connected back the origional BSI, it cas no codes and live data all looks correct. Tried a soft reboot, tried down power overnight, still no right hand side lights. Contacted Citroen who said bring in the BSI, then changed their mind and booked in the van a few days later.
After 24 hrs with the van they phone and tell me it is fixed, BSI is not faulty and I have a bill for £150.
I go over the next day and am given an invoice saying, The bsi has a short on it from the vehicle, although everthing is now working correctly, the service manager then starts to waffle about changing settings and things!
I request to speak to the fitter who has done these settings who starts to back track a little, insisting it must be an intermitant short, but cant explain why the lights all work with an old bsi but not with the correct one.
He then tells me the BSI will only cut out and re set itself 6 times on seeing a short. After that the BSI needs resetting using a special procedure he has on the Diag box that the old lexia did not have, (by now he had guessed I might have one)!
Sorry for the long intro, but I am asking does anyone know is this more waffle?
Or as I suspect, did the BSI reset itself and the dealer invent a reason for the £150 bill?
The owner has paid the bill the dealer gave me as the invoice states the BSI was not at fault and thats what I origionally supplied and fitted, but I do feel dealer has over egged a bit!
Sparki.
