With Darrens' help in providing a wiring diagram for this one, the resistor mentioned earlier in this thread is like the old coil ballast resistors and mounted in a heat sink bolted under the battery on the nearside flitch panel/chassis rail. On this occasion it was open circuit and had burnt out although the car had only done a little over 20,000 miles. Ordered a new one from Nissan on a VOR order and it came today, fitted it, cleared the codes and it now drives perfectly with a silky smooth change again. Incidentally the value of the resistor when new is 12.3 Ohms. The gearbox specialist for whom we have done the work, has had the gearbox apart twice, and fitted a new solenoid pack and all to no avail, so this is one that could catch you out. I haven't seen this system before when a resistor is placed in the line to the pressure solenoid, and has 2 feeds from the ECU. We live and learn, so mystery solved on this occasion.
Thanks to all as always.
Roger
