What we did in the end was jack the car up on both lower arms to get the suspension to its operating height and then hold the arms in the approximate place so that we could estimate the angle. Not perfect but all we could think of doing.

We did borrow the Ford workshop manual for a year 2000 Ranger on disc and it didnt have any info as to bush/arm positions.

If anyone knows the correct procedure please let us know.
