To be honest I would take what any dealer tech says with a pinch of salt. The last two MMT systems I did came with huge estimates from Toyota dealers. One was €2600. There was very little wrong with either. Same with a Corsa that has the same system, huge estimate and all it needed was a brake light bulb. There was even a code for a brake light switch to guide them but they wanted to fit an ECU.
I had the dealer tool on this one and it seems the engine ecu is combined with the trans. There were no activations or adaptions for the trans like the MMT has so I would suspect any special tools are probably a few pins to set the clutch position etc.
This belongs to a friend who I also do a bit of business with so I don’t really want to turn it away. I will delay it a bit longer to see if I can find a bit more info. If you happen to talk to the Toyota Tech again maybe you would ask him what special tools are required or even better the ref number for the Toyota workshop manual which covers it to help me search.
Cheers
Alan
