maybe completely off the mark but are you sure its not the same as the Vauxhall z30dt (isuzu engine) 3.0 v6 diesel) as i had to buy a special tool for one on a Signum the other day but didn't actually use it as i've got to get the car back in for the oil change and other jobs.

This filter housing had a bolt in the bottom of the cup as well which you remove 1st, does it sound similar.

I broke my snap-on filter removal tool trying to undo it so its very tight.

Laser do one for about £30 whihc if i remember correctly was 102*15. 102mm 15 flutes.

Can't remember the part number but i'm sure you'll find it.

The reason i say this is because i'm sure Renault use this engine.
