I'm no expert on LR but have one or two ideas.
The SLABS ECU lives up behind the glove box, it looks like pin 8 of connector c0504 is a brown wire with a red tracer and appears to be the ABS return pump monitor.
Now I'm drawing parallels with other systems (not ideal I know). Many ABS systems as part of their self test apply power to the pump, remove the power and then monitor the back emf produced when the pump is switched off to confirm that the pump has actually spun up. Should it not achieve the correct level of back emf then the ECU considers that although it has supplied power that the pump has not operated within expected parameters.
It may be worth actuating the pump and scoping the level of back emf attained when the pump switches off. Unfortunately I don't have the spec for the expected amplitude of this but if you could find another one to have a look at and it would drive further tests towards the pump (power supply / relay etc) or ECU (powers grounds etc).
HTH
Cheers
Martin
