Year of Manufacture *: 1998
The car is my own and is currently off the road.
I am getting ABS warning light on. I am getting fault codes (Using multiscan with current software)
C1145 (FR Sensor)
B1676 Battery voltage ouit of range
U2012 Can fault.
I am also getting transmission fault codes;
P1798 CAN MALF
P1799 CAN TCM/ABS malf
(Autodata is particularly unhelpfull in this case the descriptions are from the scanner display with no further explanations or circuit/system information available)
Now, this is where it gets interesting. After trying to find out where the sensor fault might be I disconnected the left hand sensor to create a false fault to see if the scan tool would pick it up (which it did) But the fault code remained persistant and un-eraseable even when the sensor was reconnected so I am now thinking that all these codes are red herrings which I cannot clear (The battery has run down and been recharged, the FR sensor was disconected when I replaced the wheel bearing and it is possible that the CAN faults refer to when I was checking supply voltages to the ABS ECU during earlier fault tracing)
Now, before I take it to Jaguar,
1) Is my analysis reasonable?
2) Assuming that I am correct, is the failure to erase likly to be a scanner issue or is it indicative of possible other vehicle problems?
3) Is there an alternative way of clearing these fault codes (EG Connecting pins to ground etc)
