I need to remove the sensor ring/module security device from around the ignition switch. In the past I have found that these come away with a gentle tug once the cowling is removed but this one seems unwilling to come free.

Is this a case of me not pulling hard enough or do I have to go through a more complex procedure on this model,(such as removing the lock barral which means removing the steering wheel(cos it obscures the access to the hole for releaseing the barrel retaining lug), which means removing the air bag etc etc etc! )
