i believe codes ect are required to access programming and key programming equipment needed
i use a extremely good local locksmith who has all keys chips and equipment to do almost all cars.
im not sure on the process and am worried about making mistakes can get rather expensive if it goes wrong.a local garage bought an ad machine and tried to program extra key i dont know what they did but the van is now dead and in need of a new ecu that they cant get as it was only made for 1 year so the customer is livid and the insurance company has asked them for certification of training for use of the kit and they have none so looks like insurance company are going to back out.
i still stick to what i do and lock smith sticks to what he does best.
