1) I think these have the choice of two tyre pressure monitoring systems, the tyre valve option or one that picks up info from the ABS system. The abs type can be reset manually, I think you hold in the TPS button for something like 3 secs but no more than 10 secs whilst turning on the ignition, when the TPS light goes out start the car and drive away and it counts the pulses to see what is normal, so make sure the pressures are correct before you start.
2) Hi I have this procedure for 5 series I'm not sure if it's the same for the x5,Does your model have i-drive?
Firstly make sure you have the correct tyre pressure in each tyre.
Using the i-Drive Press the menu button, the start menu is called up.
Press the controller to call up the "I" menu
select vehicle setting and press the controller
select "RPA" and press the controller
Start the engine but do not drive off yet
Select "tyre pressure" and press the controller
Select yes and press the controller
Drive off the message "Initializing" is displayed
Initializing is completed during the journey. the control display then shows Status "RPA Active" again.
This should stop your warning light from coming on ,
