I was so happy to be able to sit and enjoy football games that I almost forgot how irritated I get with the instant replay bullshit.
It didn't take long to be reminded with the Michigan crap.
In any sport instant replay should only be used for correcting obvious glaring mistakes. It should be for something that is clear an obvious for everyone to see.
C'mon, the NBC clock showed 0. The stadium clock showed 0. The refs say the game is over. Both teams are leaving the field. Then we get word that some mysterious secret clock in a secret back room is synced up with Greenwich Mean Time and there was actually a split second left.
It is going to be a long season of this kind of crap. Even if they are not blatantly cheating, which they may be, every booth official wants to be a hero. They feel like they have to slow things down to split milliseconds, look at 13 different camera angles, take into account the shadows due to the position of the sun, the wind speed, the amount of money bet on the game (oops), and then make the decision.
Look, he either had both feet in or he didn't. The ball broke the plane or it didn't. Take a 15 second look and if it is obvious make the call, otherwise let it remain as called.
O.K. I feel a little better now, maybe I can make it through the season.
