Most people who try to downgrade Wilt's accomplishments will say he didn't play against anybody, or centers were all much shorter than him. Both opinions are just way off base.
There were less teams when he played which meant less watered down talent. Here are some of the centers he played against: Bill Russell, Kareem, Willis Reed, Artis Gilmore, Elmore Smith, Nate Thurmond, Walt Bellamy, Elvin Hayes, Bob Lanier, Jerry Lucas. Very few centers, if any, could handle any of the guys on that list.
On the other hand here is a list of the starting centers I have been watching in the Eastern and Western Finals this week: Kevon Looney, Dwight Powell, Bam Adebayo, and Daniel Theis. They would have had a hard time even making an NBA roster when Wilt played, and Wilt would have scored as many points as he wanted on any one of them.
One last somewhat interesting side note: The average height of the starting centers in the NBA in 1962 was 6'10".
And drumroll please................The average height of the starting centers in the NBA in 2020 was 6'10".

After seeing Tatum's fake injury ploy my allegiance went straight over to Miami. I hope they win the next 2.
Wilt was indeed a stud. On and off the court from what ive read over the years. He was a great athlete who also excelled in volleyball. A team of Wilt, Magic, Jerry West, Elgin and I'll throw Worthy in there would wipe the court of any of the current players they could put together.
By the way Baz, they put Tatum on injury list today with shoulder soreness to deflect more damage off of him.

The first time I heard these modern day divas talking about "load management" I thought they were talking about a technique I used to prevent my bitches from getting pregnant. Then I found out they were just soft little mamby pambys who couldn't play more than a couple times a week.

Tatum is a great player, but almost every time I watch the Celtics play I come away feeling like I would much rather have Brown as a teammate. And feeling Brown is the superior player.
Last night was the clincher for me. After turning the ball over all game long, Tatum has a costly turnover late in the 4th quarter, does he run down the court and help his team on D. Nope lays on the ground pretending to hurt so people don't blame him for the turnover. Then a couple minutes later he is completely fine like nothing ever happened. Take that shit to the soccer pitch you little bitch.
It also made me about an all time great who should be mentioned in the greatest player of all time arguments with jordan and lebron. Wilt Chamberlain along with a couple others belong in the conversation.
Just a couple things about Chamberlain that no modern day player would ever have the guts to do:
In the 61-62 season Chamberlain average 48.53 minutes a game. Thats right due to a few OT games he average more minutes a game than the lenght of a game (48).
In his 16 year career, 11 of the years he averaged over 44 minutes a game and never average lower than 42 a game (Tatum sit you pussy ass down).
Also in 61-62 he averaged 50 points and 25 rebounds a game. Never average less than 20 rebounds an game in his career.
In 66-67 he average 24 points, 24 rebounds and 7.8 assists (3rd in the NBA) a game. Shot %68 from the field that season.
There are a ton more amazing stats by Wilt. A lot of people say he didn't play against anybody. Bill Russell, Kareem and other would disagree. Many of the centers wilt played against would dominate and push the stick figure centers of today right off the court.
Just some food for thought.
