Actually commish, no the nfl team doesn’t have to put a player out there. The new nfl covid protocol states if an outbreak happens, outbreak team will forfeit if the can’t field a team. Not sure what they consider an outbreak? Is it two, seven, ten players, I’m not sure. So in essence, in my example the Bills might have to forfeit if they don’t have three QBs. Which I think 18 teams are only carrying two QBS. It is quite possible your new rule would not even work if there was an outbreak for one team.

Rowdy, even if COVID keeps out multiple players from the same team, that NFL team will still need to play someone at those positions. If it is QB, there is a decent chance that all other starting QB's are rostered in MWAC and therefore the backup/practice squad guy may be your only option. Since this rule proposal does not benefit the COVID player/team heavily, the unlimited moves should not be an issue (and won't have to be tracked either). The same team keeps it simple and limited for who can be added as a sub. I didn't recall a vote from last year, but I looked back, and it looks like everyone who chimed in was in favor of the general Covid rule layout at that time. Most rule changes should require a super majority 12/16 (75%) vote to change, however I still feel this is more of a new rule (as opposed to a rule change), and therefore only requiring 9/16 "yes" votes to establish the new rule.

I vote no as of now. There are parts of the proposal I like and parts I don’t like.
I don’t like covid moves of players only coming from the same team. We all know that if covid hits a team it is mostly likely taking out more than one player at that position due to close contact. What happens if Josh Allen gets it and backup Trubisky is a close contact. Now you will have to pickup a QB that could be an emergency QB that is a WR, which happened to Denver last year. You get no points which would have been just as good as picking up no one.
Unlimited covid moves is a no go for me. We don’t have unlimited waivers so why covid? Bad luck is bad luck, why should we differentiate. I think 5 covid moves a year is a good number, use them wisely. You can also cut that covid player as well and use a regular waiver move. So you have plenty of moves.
I like allowing covid moves into the playoffs, since that is when it is going to be most meaningful and likely. Setting rules for the rule breakers is good a thing, so no covid moves for players on bye. Players have to be designated covid players (C) on the website for a covid waiver move to take place.
I believe we did vote on the covid IR rules last year and over majority ruled in favor.

No I don't see how it could work well with the player having to be from the same team. There might be no rec. available or the 5th rec. that doesn't see the field. I think we should only allow a covid move if the team doesn't have any player available on his bench for that week to replace covid player. All players unrostered would be available for covid replacement at that position. Hopefully we won't have to deal with this much this year. I agree with change needed as rules were bent last year and I tried to take advanage myself.

Bear Down votes “yes” for the new Covid rule.

Before the season starts, we need to establish COVID rules for this year. I feel that there were some issues with the COVID rules last year; mainly that they could be used to better your team (i.e. replace a COVID player on a bye week for a substitute off waivers who had a game and could score points, also replace a COVID player who was deep on the bench for a better player who was available on waivers as a substitute). Therefore, I propose the following COVID rule for this year and future years until COVID is no longer an issue:
New COVID rule:
“Any rostered player with COVID (designated by a C on the league website) may be moved to a temporary COVID roster slot and replaced on the main roster with an unrostered substitute from the same NFL team and of the same MWAC position as the COVID player. COVID moves are unlimited and valid any week of the MWAC season (regular season and playoffs). Multiple COVID moves may be made each week. When the COVID label is removed from the original player, that player is moved off of the COVID slot and back onto the main roster. At that time, the substitute must be dropped from the roster.”
Please either vote:
“Yes” for the New COVID rule
Or
“No” to keep the COVID rules the same as last year.
Since I don’t believe we ever voted on the actual covid rules last year, only a simple majority (at least 9/16) yes votes will be required to change the rule. Please vote before Thursday and the start of the season.
