I didn't know Kendall well but remember he was gung ho for the MWAC when he was a member. If I remember right he started the mascot process to match our team names. Rest in peace Kendall.

The first year was 1990, there were only 5 teams with a very different scoring system.
In 1991 the MWAC went to 12 teams and changed to pretty much the scoring system we use today.
In 1992 the MWAC went to 14 Teams.
And in 1994 the MWAC went to 16 Teams.
Maybe somebody has a copy of the firs redraft with 12 teams in 91. I think the first pick may have been barry sanders to the Midwest Maulers but I am not sure.
I have some copies of drafts in the early 90s, but it was already a keeper league so they are mostly rookies or unpicked vets like are draft is now.
I will post a few of teh early 90 first rounds later this week.

Mark,
Sorry to hear that; he sounded like a great guy. What year did MWAC start and who was the first ever draft pick? Were there 16 teams from the beginning?

There are probably only a handful of owners left who were in the league when Kendall Drew was an owner in the early 90s. But I thought I would pass along some sad news; Kendall passed away suddenly on Wednesday, I was just informed today and do not have many details but I thought there were a few of you who would want to know.
Kendall was one of the most positive people I have ever met. When I first met him I thought he was being sarcastic or a smart ass, it took me a while to realize he really was that positive and good hearted.
Kendall and I worked together at Ping in Phoenix for 12 years, we talked about every subject in the world at lunch without becoming enemies. My wife and I went out with Kendall and his wife (Erica) on weekends frequently to restaurants, bars and concerts (twice to see Van Halen).
He was a good man and will be missed by his friends and family.
