With another season of numbers to add to Belichick's non Brady record I thought an update was in order:

Belichick led the Patriots to a 7-9 record this season. His all time Patriot record without Brady is now 25-26 - .490. So now he is sub .500 with the Browns (36-44 .450) and sub .500 with Pats.

His all time record without Brady moves to 61-70 .465. The 131 games coached without Brady is the equivalent of just over 8 full seasons.

His .465 win percentage puts him behind Jack Del Rio, Wayne Fontes, Norv Turner, Rex Ryan and Jim Fassell.
And don't look now Billy Boy but you are holding on to a tiny lead over Jerry Glanville (.463).
Just to get back to being a .500 coach Billy would have to lead the Pats to a 13-3 record next year. Maybe he will do it and become a .500 coach, but based on 8 seasons of coaching results I have my doubts.

Listening to some discussion on the Belichick / Brady topic this week and thought some of these numbers were interesting.

Belichick coached 115 career games without Brady (80 with Cleveland 36-44 and 35 with New England 18-17) for a record of 54-61.
It is not a small sample size, it is the equivalent of over 7 seasons of head coaching.

Without Brady his 54-61 record gives him a .469 win pct.

Ted Marchibroda .470
Ray Rhodes .469
John Mackovic .469
Bill Belichick .469

So is Belichick a genius, or is he John Mackovic with an all time great QB?

I know people love to point to the season Brady was hurt and the Pats went 11-5, but it should be noted the same team went 16-0 with Brady at QB the year before (a five game drop)
And Belichick was 7 and 12 in the remaining Pats games Brady didn't play.

He won a bunch of games and championships so he has to be considered an all time great. But the sample size on Belichick without Brady is there, and it doesn't look good.
