Elgin Eagle Serial Number F2627D. THIS TRUCK IS A PIECE OF CRAP!!! DO NOT BUY IT. This truck has had nothing but problems since day 1. There are electrical problems. The radiator in the rear engine needs to be replaced, the left power steering drive box needs to be replaced. The AC has never worked. The heat does not work. The left/right steering shorts out all the time while you are driving at high rates of speed and all you have is brakes to bring it under control. There is no steering or fuel pedal because it’s all electric.
The hopper gets stuck in the air and they don’t make the hydraulic manifold anymore and the Elgin Dealer does not have it in stock it would have to be made. And the dealer ***************** is doing a process of elimination as well as ***************. on the truck. And they cannot even guarantee that is what is wrong with it. I bought this from *******************.
This truck is on the 3 transmissions which go out about every 6000 miles. Allison said that due to the pitch of the transmission and the position of the rear axle with the unit lower up and down it eats the transmission up and if you know anything about UD Trucks there are no parts for them in North America.
This truck was sold to me for $129,000.00 which was supposed to be a certified pre owned Elgin Eagle. They slapped a paint job on it. They didn’t even sand blast it before they painted it. The condition that the truck is in right now with all the issues its worth about 25,000.00 or a parts truck.
