Question:
Are prez Papazian speeches or writing generally massive yawn fest? Sorry to be harsh, but they are so impossibly vague and utterly meaningless.
I'm impressed sometimes though since it takes talents to talk for an hour and not really say anything at all.
Phrases guaranted in her speech:
"embracing diveristy...democracy...connect with each other...commitment to social justice..."
I'm ok with democracy, peace and such but just not every speech and composed of 90% of the speech with such language. Sometimes, I don't think SJSU is even mentioned at all.
I'm far more impressed with SJSU specific milestones such as constructions, fundraising, new programs (e.g. phd offerings), athletics, academics accolades, SJSU admissions/academics, graduation, budget/finance, scholarships, breakthroughs, specific univserity partnerships with private sector or gov't, legal/laws/governance related to the school, land or other asset acquisitions - basically anything spartan!
There are plenty of politics and vagueness everywhere we are bombarded with daily, so we are trying to escape from those.
Most of us spend our valuable time (fighting traffic and giving up other priorities) to attend these meetings so it's very frustraing sometimes for all these jargons and flowery language. I think it's a bit out of touch too when people speak like that.
