Thanks for getting in touch so quickly it’s been a few years now since those heady days, I can remember the trip back to Blighty. Coming through the Suez Canal and there being an issue with one of bum boats that was taken on board. I was the washboard player for the Tampin Combo. I also remember going to Port Dickson on a few accassions to the Chief Of The Federation Police’s chalet set a little way out into the sea where we dived off of the balcony into the sea. I must admit things are a little hazy these days I thought I would never forget one moment of it all but seeing all the names of the others in the group makes me realise even I can get older. We had a great time with it all travelling from Tampin to the Thailand border in the RL Lorries and back to camp as well. I’m not to sure if I remember about Snowy but I do remember a Snowy who came from Gloucester as I used to write to his sister while I was in Malaya.
I have a few photos taken while at Tampin of some of the boys and of us playing at different gigs. I also have pictures with Snowy when we went to Singapore Tiger Balm Gardens plus a few of the camp, drinking sessions etc.
Love to hear any thoughts you have of those times it’s been great hearing from you I remember the armoury and someone firing around off into the doorframe. I also remember the REME stores as I was was the Storeman attached to the REME. I also remember have a Mohican hair style at one stage and got into the Sargeant Majors bad books.
