I found 5 Americans - none of whom were "my" David. He was a mining engineer and provided assistance in the manufacturing of explosives during 1915 rather than active service. Are there any records of the munitions companies and their work? Even if he is not mentioned, I'd get a general idea of what he may have done.

He did not join the American Army until late 1917-18.
