Sorry for such a late response to your message posted Feb. 1 2012. Re. Your Dad.
I was serving at 28 Commonwealth Bde. Signal Sqn. at the time your dad was with 7 Flight there. We were both members of the Amateur Radio club station 9M2RH. We would see each other just about every evening as the radio club was, or got to be quite a sociable meeting place for the members and wifes to get together.Your dad was known as "John H", I Was "John C" and we had "John Han", a Captain in the Aussie Education Corps with 8 RAR. I was the only private rank in the club, but it was first names only. We had an American Ham came over on holiday with his wife to see us and he contacted your dad in the Terendak Air Strip Tower to let him know that they were on their way to Malacca airport . So your dad had to pass on the message to Bob ( the club Licencee) so he could get all sorted to meet them and for us all to get down to the club asap. We all ended up going out that night to all of the Garrison Officers Messes with our visitors and the Brigadier and his lady wife in tow.
I will try to remmember other things we did besides talk on ham radio.
Hoping this message finds you ok Andrew.
Best regards John Cliff.
