Thank you for any help!
I have general information that led me to this historical society. I'm searching here first because of the specific mention of "Bladensburg" below.
History of Clermont County, Ohio, with illustrations and biographical sketches of its prominent men and pioneers. The entry below is from this book: History of Clermont County, Ohio, , by Bancroft, R.J., Rockey, J.L. 1880
"The grandfather of the subject of this sketch was William Thomas, born on the Eastern Shore of Maryland; while his great-grandfather was John Thomas, who came to America from Wales about the year 1681, was a very large planter, and served for years as high sheriff in the Maryland Colony."
Later in the entry:
"...and comes of an old Revolutionary stock long lived and famous in the early annals of the country. His grandfather William Thomas, of Bladensburg, District of Columbia, was captain of a troop of horse Minute-Men in the Revolution and served under "Light-Horse Harry Lee." (also mentioned in the entry is that William had a brother named James)
The children of William Thomas (wife possibly named Elizabeth) are as follows:
Nathan Thomas b1775-?
Basil Thomas b1777-1865
James Thomas 1779-1858
William Thomas 1781-?
Elender Thomas 1783-?
Ruth Thomas 1785-?
Thomas Thomas 1788-1871
Elizabeth Thomas 1790-?
Mary Thomas 1790-?
Mary Thomas 1792-?
Richard Thomas 1795-?
Fanny S Thomas 1797-?
Evan Thomas 1799-?
Darcus Thomas 1800-?
Samuel Thomas 1805-1882 (born in PA)
So far, we have been able to track a few of William's children.
Thank you so much!
