Before the Beltway and John Hanson Highway (US route 50) were built it was one continuous road from Annapolis Rd (450) to Ardmore. I remember a fenced complex of wooden buildings somewhere along the road between Ardwick and Ardmore in the present industrial area that supposedly once had (WWII?) some military function. Perhaps someone else knows for sure. But it was a rural-type road between Ardwick and Ardmore.
