Yes, it is sad about the old landmarks being razed. That old intersection was once called Malfunction Junction when the area got too big for its britches, and then it all changed. I don't remember the historical marker, though.

: It could possibly be that. And it makes sense
: Mr. Pyles would build his home near his
: business.
:
: Sad about the lumberyard fire. The last time
: I drove past was about a year and a half
: ago. I read the building was recently razed.

: I think you might mean the house that Mr.
: Pyles built in the early 1900's.

: As a child, I remember a large house at the
: intersection of Allentown Road and Old
: Branch Ave in Camp Springs. It was across
: the street (Allentown Rd) from Pyles Lumber.
:
: It's currently a vacant lot enclosed by a
: low chain link. The garage/carriage house
: (?)is less than 20 feet from the merging
: lane of Rt 5 south and can be seen from the
: road.
:
: I remember older siblings reading the
: sign/marker whenever we drove past it (a
: Rodman's Drug Store was in the vicinity) and
: the sign indicated it was the first house to
: have electricity or something like that.
