Have you checked the 1920-1940 census records for Maryland and D.C., looking for all those possible names of the artist? You just might find him/her . . .

: I am trying to identify the painter of a 1936
: oil painting of a white house in what
: appears to be a rural setting. There is an
: inscription on the back which reads:
: "An old house at Langley, Maryland
: across the street from the gas station,
: looking toward Washington" . The
: signature appears to be M.K. Bryan? or
: Beyer? or Bayer? or Beym? Possibly a female
: artist.
: Any help out there? In 1936, which street
: would be the main street of Langley, MD?
: Any info appreciated! It is a nice
: painting.
