Will of John Wynn (1752) Prince George’s County, Maryland
In the name of God Amen the Twenty first day of March in the year of our Lord
God one Thousand Seven hundred and fifty two, I John Wynn son of Prince Georges
County being sick in body but a perfect mind and memory thanks begiven unto God
therefore calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is
appointed for all men once to die, do make and ordain this my Last Will and
Testament that is to say principally and first of all I recommend my soul into
hands of Almighty God that gave it, and for my body I recommend it to the ---th
to be buried at the discretion of my children –thing ----bling But at the
General Resurrection I shall receive the name again by the mighty Power of God
and for my Worldly goods I give and bequeath as follow---
Imprimis I give and bequeath unto my loving Daughter Ann Wynn during her natural
life the land where I now dwell called the Indian field and to her own proper
use and Behoof. But not to rent or let or lease any part or parcel thereof to
any person or persons and at her decease the said land shall immediately be in
the possession of my two sons (Mr2) John Wynn and Josiah Wynn. I give and
bequeath unto my said Daughter Ann Wynn her Equal Part of all my Movables I
likewise send unto my said Daughter Ann Wynn the Labour of all my Negros untill
the Day of her Marriage and then for the said Negros to be Equally Divided
amongst all my Daughters.
Imprimis I give and Bequeath unto my Loving son John Wynn Junr all that part of
a tract of land called the Indian field where he now dwells (Viz?) from the
Spring Branch on the North side of my now Dwelling Plantation and his Equall
Part of all my lands after the decease of my Daughter Ann to him and his Heirs
for ever he having the One half and my son Josiah the other half.
Imprimis I likewise give and bequeath unto my loving son John Wynn Junr him and
his heirs for ever all my right ???? and Josiah a tract of land lying and being
in St. Marys County called Governors Gift.
Imprimis I give and bequeath unto my loving son Josiah Wynn him and his Heirs
forever all that part of a tract of land where he now dwells (Viz) from the Ivey
hill Branch and over the fork to the line of f???ship by the Walnut tree and at
the decease of my Daughter Ann Wynn to have the one half of my land where I now
dwell to him and his heirs forever I likewise give and bequeath unto my son
Josiah Wynn and my ?? Daughters in equall share of both my pews (??) at Broad
Creek Church and Acokeek Church.
Imprimis I give and bequeath unto my son John Wynn part of my pew at Broad Creek
Church.
Imprimis I will that one acre of land where the Burying Place is be reserved for
the burying of all my children and their heirs forever.
Imprimis I give and bequeath unto my other five Daughtes (??) Gemina Wynn to
?oan Wynn to Mary Wynn to Martha Wynn to Susannah Wynn all the residue of my
??????? to be equally divided among them and to be delivered to them upon the
day of ??????? ???? shall be found ???? my debts are paid and I do hereby
utterly disalow revoke and ???null all and every other Will or Wills heretofore
made or done by me ratifying and confirming this and ?? other to be my Last Will
and Testament in Witness whereof I have set my hand and seal the day and year
above written.

In the name of God Amen. I Josiah Wynn of Prince Georges County in the Province
of Maryland Planter being this --- Abundant Mercy and Goodness of God tho weak
in body, yet of a sound and perfect understanding and memory do constitute this
my last Will and testament and ---- it may be received by all as such Imprimis I
most humbly bequeath my Soul to God, my maker beseeching his most gracious
acceptance of it, through the all sufficient merits and mediation of my most
compassionate Redeemer Jesus Christ, who gave himself to be an atonement for my
sins, and is able to save to the uttermost all that come unto God by him seeing
he ever liveth do make -------ssion for them and I who trust will not reject me
a returning penitent Sinner, whom I came to him for mercy in this hope and
Confidence I render up my soul with comfort humbly beseeching the most blessed
and glorious Trinity, one God most holy, most mercyfull and gracious to prepare
me for the time of my dissolution and then to take me to himself into that place
and rest, and incomparable felicity which he has prepared for all that love and
fear ------ name Amen blessed be God. Impremis I give my body to the earth from
whence it was taken in full assurance of its resurrection from whence at the
last day to be buried at the discretion of my Executor hereafter mentioned and
as to my personal Estate I will that all my debts be justly paid. ---- I give
unto my loving Wife for term of life the Plantation and Land where I now dwell
and after her Death to be Equally Divided between my two Sons (---) William Wynn
and Josiah Wynn to them and their Heirs forever the Settlement where I now live
to be ------- and holden by my aforesaid Son Josiah Wynn and his Heirs forever.
I likewise lend my said loving Wife for twenty years the labour of my negro
women Cate and her son John Sharper and all her increase during the said term
and after that time is expired the said negro Cate and her son John Sharper and
all her increase to be equally Divided among all my Children. Imprimis I give
and bequeath unto my loving Daughter Chloe Wynn one Mare call Snip and her
increase forever and the rest of my Estate I give and bequeath unto my dear and
loving Wife Ann Wynn during her natural life and at her decease to be Equally
Divided amongst all my Children and I do hereby Constitute and ordain my Said
loving Wife to be Executrix and John Downing Executor of this my last Will and
Testament revoking and making null and void all other Will or Wills heretofore
made or done by me but Declare this to be my last Will and testament in Witness
where of I have hereunto Set my hand and affect my Seal this thirteth day of
September in the year of our Lord 1763.

--- on the 21st day of December. Anno Dom 1763 came Edw. Dyar & Thomas Dyer ----
---------------- and made oath on the holy Evangelist of Almighty God, that they
did see Josia Wynn late of said County plant--- Seal & deliver the written
instrument of writing & -------- the same as his Last Will & testament and that
at the time of his so doing he was (to be best of their Deponents apprehentions)
of sound memory & of a desp--------& that in his presence & at his request they
did sign that same as witnesses when James Downing & Rebecca Stephens the other
two witnesses did the same & sworn before me day & year ----. –Scott. Olomny ---
