I use the site ancestry.com. It is not free, but they have a new database called the 1940's census substitute and I was able to locate my grandmother's listings in Gary, IN, during the 30's and 40's. You might want to try this.

: Hi there. I'm new to this forum and need some
: advice on how to obtain some biographical
: information for a (now deceased) man that I
: am researching. I know that he owned a house
: in Hyattsville, MD that was built in 1949,
: but I also know that he moved to Hyattsvile
: in 1948, so I'd like to verify his earlier
: residency by finding out where he lived.
: Also, this man was transfered by his
: employer back and and form Missisippi to
: Beltsville during the 30s and 40s, and I
: would like to find out in which town he
: lived in Prince George's county during that
: time. Complicating matters is that he never
: changed his address for the purposes of
: voter registration, and kept the address of
: his childhood town in Oklahoma well into his
: fiftees and possibly even sixties. Is there
: a place where I can go to find out who was
: living where and when in Prince George's
: county? I have the address of his last
: residence in Hyattsville and am planning to
: look up the deed at the location given to me
: by the division of property taxes, but I'm
: interested in the earlier addresses as well.
:
: Thanks so much,
:
: Tom
