: I have checked our biographical and obituary
: files, and find nothing about Joseph Bauer.
: Since he was a jockey, I suggest that you
: contact staff of the Belair Mansion and
: Stable (museum of the Belair Stud) at
: 301-809-2088. If Bauer ever rode any of the
: Belair thoroughbreds, staff members may have
: information about him. Another source is
: Sue Stephenson, curator of the Selima Room
: at the Bowie Library, 301-262-7000. She is
: a fount of information about Maryland
: horses, horseracing, etc.
:
: Good luck with your search!

: Joseph J. Bauer Sr. ( J.J. Bauer ) was my
: great uncle. He was a jockey in the years
: 1913-1919 at the race tracks in Maryland
: around Washington D.C. and later a horse
: trainer up to about 1950. Would there be any
: information about his horseman career or an
: obituary in a local Prince George's County
: newspaper that might include this ? He was
: a resident of College Park and died January
: 15, 1984. Thank you.
