For witches and wizards to have more access to reliable data and interactive discussions, I think that the pagan traditions have to become more focused on and effective in healing knowledge and techniques. The first shamans were healers, and the early Christians originally spread their reputatation on the strength of their faith-healing skills. I think that getting bogged down in political issues has taken the fun out of being a witch for many people. But, to me, the possibilities of learning how to heal at multiple levels is the ray of hope. I do not so much want to sell people on the idea that the Egyptians were the greatest doctors (though the Greeks said that they were) as to try to recruit competent people to work with a House of Thoth some day, enabling the Ma'at Center to become a place where such knowledge is preserved, clarified, and made available to witches in a manner more useful to them. It is to some extent an aesthetic/totemic thing. Remember in the film, _The Egyptian_, when it came time for prayers? There was a huge baboon deity before whom they bowed. I have my own ideas about how education and fun can come together, and of course, I am looking for sharp people to network with until the healing work of the Egyptian schools comes into better focus. In the old days, the wise and learned men would convoke at the House of Life, not exactly a temple library, but more of an academy where people developed the knowledge such as found in the books of Scott Cunningham. But, you know, the first thing Noah did when he came out of the ark was to build an altar and fill the atmosphere with healing peace. I am hearing the distant bell of a call to prayer, pagan style. Pagans used to have a lot of fun in social situations in the Seventies, especially, but this seems to have been fizzling. If we could get the cream of the crop to work on prioritizing structure and goals for the temples, I think that we could breathe more fun into it, once again. There has to be a new energy source. When Buffy and Angel were on TV, there was a lot of interest in the occult. Now that Uranus is in Pisces and Neptune is in Aquarius, there is a shifting between shamanic technology and pagan faith, at large. When the fruits of these developments ripen, I want to be involved in something that brought the kind of joy we encountered in the "old days". As a Thoth servant, I think that there is more fun in doctorin' than in doctrine, and I am looking for others who can help me learn what I want to know, and to create on Earth the things I have seen in Heaven. And, I don't want to make a mess, and that is one reason why I like the detatchment and impartiality of the god of books.
