Luke, Use the Torque!

forces"
I noticed that personal mojo sometimes gets blocked by ego, which is so tricky, it always finds a way to weasel its way back in and obstruct the Self. But, I remember one of the most powerful wizards I ever knew, a musician more than a ritualist, who once said, "I want to thank you for letting me be myself, again." He is a genius, but sometimes temperamental and even irrational. Yet, his spiritual presence is utterly huge. If we can't let others be themselves, then we can't let ourselves be ourselves, because the ego is always pretending to know more and better than the Self. So, when I notice an ebb, I ask myself to what extent I have been dreaming up excuses to put others down, and notice that this same force secretly dreams up excuses to oppress the Self that it is trying to smother, but should be acting as an instrument of. I notice that when I allow myself to concoct a reason why this or that won't work for someone else, then it doesn't help my power. Harm no one and do what your spiritual Will shows you is the best path. People sometimes think that Thelema is about insistence, but it is not. It is about consistency and persistence in minding one's own business. One night, I went with my sis to the recycling depot. She pulled in way to close to the guy who was there, making it harder for him to drive out. When he had to steer close to her car, she exclaimed with petulance that it was "creepy". I said, "I would have steered left about 6 more feet in order to allow the other patron to drive out, safely." Miraculously, she dropped the argument. I guess there is a first time for everything. When you point out the possible flaws in someone else's approach, it is best to just state the truth, rather than to inflict personal criticism. Doing that, you walk around the dog poop on the sidewalk, and you don't have an eeewwwww moment that can ruin a day.
