I think Crowley used the word Magick to denote an intensified involvement in the creative process by people with psychic gifts because tomorrow's realities often begin with today's illusions. There are a lot of parallels between magic and magick. If we look at the corrupt wizards in Pratchett novels or the heroic wizards/witches in Rowling novels, we see that mages dress in velvet, satin, lace, steampunk jewelry, and SCA accessories, just like stage illusionists. I think the similarities between magic and the healing arts of witchcraft are significant. If I remember correctly, Konstantinos talks about them in _Nocturnal Witchcraft_. While illusionist create a show just for today, I think real witches often try to build entire new realities that start with appearances, but are made sustainable by observing cosmic laws and wise principles. Now, stage magicians keep secrets because otherwise the surprise might be spoiled. Similarly, it is good to keep secrets if you accomplish some wonderful feat of thaumaturgy, because there are the jealous party poopers out there who just don't want you to learn how to develop the Ghost Whisperer type of abilities. But, if you are a real witch or wizard, there is only so much you can say without spoiling the fun. Harry Potter created Dumbledore's Army, but the jig was up once Dolores Umbridge found out.
