Happily, a witch of one sort can never set limits on the powers of another, as appealing as the idea may be for some. One may describe what a witch is. But, since witches have special powers built in, one may not really define what a witch is. For magic to work, it has to be fun. And, that is why the gods are so willing to parcel out new super powers to "evil" sorts of humans. True witch craft draws upon the powers of the imagination and harnesses the likelihood of the unlikely.
Anyway, no matter what kind of human-with-extra-mojo sub species you may be, you always have some spirit allies who are of a faery, dragon, or some other race of beings who are native to other planes of existence. And sometimes, to gain access to enough tribal or ancestral power, a witch has to identify with a non-human form. This is nothing too dangerous if one has contact with enough of the same line. It is part of the development of ones natural empathic potential.
If you want to be taken seriously as a witch, do as witches have traditionally done: heal people, organize projects that assist those in distress, set up teaching programs that deal with botanical medicine, be prepared to answer tough philosophical questions, foretell the future, describe the sacredness of Father Earth and Mother Sky, sew beautiful designs into your robes, collect really cool swords and daggers, make potions, and help solve difficult problems. And, create dark, beautiful things.
