Okay, someone else is going to have to step since, though I love Voodoo, I don't know enough about it to really give a great answer. I do want to say these few things right away, though. 1. DO NOT THROW IT IN THE GARBAGE!!! We don't know who the doll is depicting or for what purpose, and if they doll is depicting a lwa, throwing it in the garbage is REALLY insulting and would probably make things a lot worse. (I have two Voodoo dolls of Mama Brigitte and Papa Ghede/Baron Samedi, and I COULD NOT EVEN IMAGINE throwing them...I can't even finish that sentence.) So that we (especially those here who are more well versed in Voodoo than I am) get an idea of what the doll is for, could you tell us what it looks like? What is it wear, if anything, what colors are used, how big, what is it made from, etc. If you know where the doll is from and what it's supposed to be, even better. 2. ESPECIALLY if the doll depicts a lwa...sometimes those who are called to Voodoo yet resist are subjected to misfortunes as a way of getting thier attention. It's similar to the sickness many shamans of many cultures experience when they resist the call to be shamans. I don't know if this is what is going on, but it's something to keep in mind. 3. ESPECIALLY if the doll depicts a lwa, perhaps they are unhappy with how they are being honored in your home. Do you keep the doll in a place of honor or is it shoved into a closet somewhere? I have found personally that how you treat objects of honor make a difference. Other than that, I don't know what to tell you. But, if you answer these questions someone with more wisdom will be able to give you a better answer. Should push come to shove, you could always call Mimi or Voodoo Authentica. |
