Congrats on the win. I was wrong bama has the better team. We were down in baton rouge watching the game...just got back late yesterday evening.

the most surprising thing to me was the ability of Bama to run the ball as well as they did. the offensive line played their best game so far this year. of course, the Who defense was on the field a lot due to the ineptness of their offense.
it did not surprise me that fournette was held in check. it did not surprise me that Harris has a cannon arm. but he's got a ways to go on "touch" and mid-range passes.
as an outsider looking in, I am convinced that your head coach does not know what he has at his disposal. it's always the same ole, same ole, and Bama was ready for it. never runs any misdirection, screens, reverses, toss-sweeps, sprint draws, etc. I formation, fullback lead block and run between the tackles. pretty simple, really. it works against less physical teams, like State and Allbarn. lsu's success running LF over and through other teams gave a false sense of security in the weeks leading to the Bama game. the Tide has been primed for this showdown due to the heirsman hype and they took it personally!
anyway, thanks! I know it's hard to swallow. trust me, I easily remember the days of dubose and shula! "You asked me how I thought the West would go....I do think LSU will win it this year." Tigerfan, July 10, 2014

I think the success of bama running the ball was due to the time the LSU defense was on the field due to the 3 and outs. LSU isn't deep on the front like they have been in the past...thanks to Chavis. As predictable as LSU was, LSU swung the momentum in the second quarter, and a good start to the third would have likely helped the team to gain momentum...and especially harris. The team seemed to deflate after that completely unforced error.
I think the stage was to big for Harris again...I noticed the first pass of the night sailed 5 feet over the rec's head...it reminded me of what he did last year at Auburn.
It was no rocket science that Saban was going to sell out to stop #7. I believed that LSU would develop a gameplan to take advantage of the mismatches in the secondary with Dural and Dupree...and with the mobility of Harris. Apparently Miles believed that he was going to stick with what he does best, instead of trying to exploit bama's semi weaknesses. There was no contingency. Bama was stacking the box and run blitzing on almost every play....daring Harris to beat them.
The sad thing is that Mles came out and said that LSU has only NOT been in position to win 2 out of the last 5 games....so why should he change his scheme based on those two times....Miles still doesn't believe his offensive scheme is at fault. That's the most frustrating. He is just to stubborn...almost to the point of arrogance.
I would have rather them throw it deep three times in a row with those one on one matchups and tall rec's......hopefully completely at least one. While they had success throwing it deeper...they mostly tried to throw short and intermediate passes...which aren't taking advantage of the strength of Harris or the mismatches. Oh well, I got a sneaky feeling that the two meet again......and as you said, oh the irony. That said, LSU may get ran out of BR this week against Arkansas.....Roll Tide!

Bama played its 3-4 defense most of the night. there was no sell out to stop the run. the box was not stacked unless there was a short yardage for a first down situation or lsu's formation had two or less wideouts. Bama simply overpowered the LSU offensive line by controlling the gaps and getting penetration. "You asked me how I thought the West would go....I do think LSU will win it this year." Bama run blitzed all night morris. There were plenty of safeties making plays at the line of scrimmage. Even miles acknowledged they run blitzed. They most certainly sold out to stop the run. That's not a knock on them...just smart.Roll Tide!
