I have forwarded questions about the rule on the downfield lineman issue. The experts e-mailed me back and said to give them 3 days to formulate an answer. To murky this thing up some more I asked for clarification of just where the downfield lineman's 3 yard safe zone started and ended and would the same rule interpretation that covers the QB's apply to the downfield lineman ( if the big toe of the trailing foot is breaking the invisible plane of another invisible plane that is three yards past the neutral zone (LOS) and the leading big toe is 4 and 1/2 yards downfield is the lineman downfield or still in the safe 3 yard zone? And also would not this make endless interruptions of official revues all based on guess work. Hurry up 3 days, I want to know.
