CHRISTMAS ON THE FRONTIER 1875 by Gene Minix Stockings hung with care. Will they be filled this year? Things have been hard they hear daddy and mama say. But, little tots thrill at the thought somehow they will. To bed early they go. Outside it begins to snow. A special night they say. Something in our stockings they pray to the Lord above and close their eyes with "Good night all. I love". And what on Christmas morning. Children shout with glee when they look around at what they see. Stockings overflowing full of candy, nuts and fruits. A big orange and apple. And under the tree Drum for Ted, skates for Timmy. Dolls for Bess and Sandy. Parents with a heart full of joy as they watch the children oh the Christmas day stop and pray. Giving Jesus thanks at what they see. Oh, the joy and appreciation, the smiles on faces gathered around the Christmas tree. © Copyright 2021, by Gene Minix. All rights reserved. |
