This is a joke that I read in a newsletter we get at work:

One day, I visited my friends and their six year old daughter. I asked her what she wanted to do with her life when she grew up. She said she wanted to help the homeless people by giving them money and clothes. Her parents, both staunch NDP supporters beamed happily and said "Welcome to the NDP Party".
I asked her why should she wait? she could come over to my house and mow my lawn, pull out weeds and other yard work and I would pay her for her work. She could then take that money and give it to the homeless. Then she asked, "Why don't you just hire the homeless guy and then pay him to do the job?"

I replied...."Welcome to the Conservative Party "
