You say a Flaming Star female?? How far back is he and what does her pedigree look like?? I was talking about Flaming Star this week with a couple of folks. Some of the talk was about Harry Bensen and his love of Flaming Star and the influence he had on Harry's Nesneb Setters!! Some of that still carries through with them today!!!

George is out of a daughter of Flaming Star and Grouse Ridge Will. So that makes George a grandson of Flaming Star. So the 7 pups I have are great grand children of Flaming Star.

Sounds good to me!! Just a heads up, keep an eye on your females!! He was known to throw some really strong girls!! I tell everyone that when you get one, you will know it as they just stand out and the more crosses to him that are there, the better the chances. I've had one and she was truly just outstanding!!!

Newell George south Texas famed hunting dog. Is he really the reason he wasn't a great winner at all. Other dogs in pedigree won more here than him. Remember setter men Smokey Commander Chief Lee White Chief Ed Soph Crocket Commanders High tone Beau of many true Commander. He has been breed before. How many winning dogs has he produced.

Fair enough questions Dom. Time will tell. Mine just turned 5 months old. Way too early for predictions but I like what I see. Whelped in November and registered in November so that’s not working in her favor. She has a ton of natural instinct, pointed the first time I put her on birds at 12 weeks, a long range nose, brains and athleticism but it’s a long way from here to winning something. Hard to judge a breeding on one single pup but that’s what I have to work with. Not sure any others will get a shot and can’t control that. Hope all is well with you.

Flaming Star was in my Bluebell Slugger and I believe he put bottom in the dog but his mothers father was Grouse Ridge Billy boy. Who put the brains there. There is good blood out there I would hope that setter men use there heads go with winning blood. Newell George Had good blood but again did he himself meet winning standards he was a brag Texas gun dog They took seamen and held it a long time. Remember Johnny Crocket.

I bought a pup based partly on pedigree and partly on the recommendation of the son of a Hall of Fame trainer who took some Newell George pups to Canada last summer and subsequently bought 7 total out of 4 litters. His will be Plantation dogs in Florida and will never see a field trial but I trust his judgement. Time will tell.

I picked up my female pup out of Little George the day after Christmas. She as really made me excited at her age with the awesome desire she as for finding and pointing birds with excellent style. Hoping she continues to show me some run cause I will put her with Scott and Tammy Chaffee to run in the grouse woods. Time will tell.

I got 3 out of the litter that Ronnie and Ben got. I also got 4 more out of a litter that was bred the same way as the mothers were littermates sisters and about a 3 weeks younger in age. They are all just like everyone is describing them. I have several people throw a lot of big money out in front of me for one and I would not sell them. I think down the road I will take the best female and breed her to my straw of frozen semen out of Tomoka. I would like to send all 7 of them up north later this year.
