G'day All; Rotherham ; " For the favour of God, bringing salvation to all men, has shone forth, putting us under disicpline- in order that- we should live in the present age in a sober-minded and righteous and godly manner prepared to welcome the happy hope and forthshining of the glory of the Great God and our Saviour Christ Jesus- Who gave Himself up in our behalf that He might redeem us from all manner of lawlessness; and purify for Himself a people as His own treasure- zealous of noble works."
Titus 3;6 " So that having been justified by His grace we might become appointed/constituted/established heirs, according to the expectation of an age of life."
Putting us under discipline definitely corrects our values and behaviour. The purification process is literally for the greater good. C.U

G'day Margaret; Titus is interesting reading. Scarily, I identify with some of his statements about before and after; before- as in before finding out the glorious truth After - the truth that literally sets us free.
Titus 3;1-7 " Remind them to be subject to magistrates and authorities, to obey rule, to be ready to every good work,[2] to speak evil of no one, to not be quarrelsome,- gentle, showing all meekness to men. [3] For we ourselves were also sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various types of lusts and pleasures, living in wickedness and ill-will that is not ashamed to break laws, envy, hateful and hating one another.
[4] But after the kindness and love of God our saviour appeared to bring light toward man, [5] not by works of righteousness we have done, but He saved us according to His mercy, by the washing of spiritual re-birth, and a complete change for the better by the Holy Spirit; [6] which He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our saviour; [7] that being justified by His grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life."
Wow!!
Reminded of many of my previous actions and what they were based on was self-centered, egotistical, pleasure seeking, just as he said. Paul was making a mention of this in Timothy as well- how he considered himself the chief of sinners; yet grace exceeds that level beyond what man tries to comprehend, yet fails to understand.
What seems to be a problem in the church and religious places around the world is that our supposed spiritual leaders justify themselves and pat themselves on the back, saying, 'Look at me, look at me..."
2 Tim 2;16 " But shun profane and vain babblings; for they will increase to more ungodliness."
Titus 3;9-11 tells us what to do about those differences of opinion.
" But avoid foolish questions and debates and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain; [10] reject a man that is a follower of false doctrine after the first and second admonition;[11] knowing that is such is corrupt and sins, being condemned of himself."
Phil 1;9-11 " And this I pray, that your love may be over and above with personal knowledge and ALL perception,[10] so that you may be putting to the test the things that differ to determine what is essential in order that you may be pure and may give no occasion of stumbling until the day of Christ,[11] filled with the fruit of righteousness which is through Jesus Christ to the glory and praise of God."
