This point about the differences in spirit also explains why Satan promotes the lie about us being immortal: the spirit returning to God is used to say we are immortal and I think that this is why Paul elaborated about the whole concept when pointing out the different spirits.
Man having the spirit of life, just like the animals, seems to recognised by Solomon in Ecclesiastes. Also explains some of our behaviours which can be seen amongst animals. Probably what makes people accept evolution.

G'day Bill,
Takes a while to cogitate such things.
I.M.O there is a major difference between the spirit of life and the holy spirit.
Paul elaborated about the differences in 1 Corinthians 15.
There is the reference to the spirit returns to the Father: truly correct. That seems to be the spirit of life which is in all living things.
The birds have a distinctive difference to the fish, yet they are both alive until they die, then that spirit of life returns to God.
When Jesus talks to the disciples He says to wait in Jerusalem until they receive the spirit.
The pouring out of-the spirit happened at pentecost when they spoke in different languages.
This concept highlights that some, the ecclesia, currently have that new spirit, the true holy spirit, but the rest will receive that spirit in the resurrection.
Hopefully encouraged by these observations.

Hi everyone, just a thought, and maybe some of your opinions.
Ecc 12:7 and the dust returns to the earth as it was, and the spirit returns to God who gave it.
For all men, when they die, the spirit returns to God, who gave it!
Is that the spirit in man?
For Believers, ----the spirit that returns to God, is it the spirit in man, or God's Holy Spirit?
Interested in some comments.
