Re: Article - “Why Churches Fall Apart”
Oops! Accidentally pressed something and posted empty post!
I and my dog Julie are doing well.
Australia isn’t all outback! Where I live is a small country town just over an hour’s drive from the Capital, Canberra. It is also about one and a half hour drive to the ski resorts in the mountains. It is dry - currently in drought. It is 800 metres above sea level and in a rain shadow area within a rain shadow area. Apart from the snowfields in the alps, it is one of the coldest places in Australia, although nothing like the cold you have in much of the USA. Our town rarely has snow, but has frosts. Summers can be hot sometimes, and occasionally gets to 100 or close, but not as hot as a lot of other places in Australia. I don’t like heat!
Hope you and your dog can keep cool. When it is that hot, my dog can’t walk much either. The concrete paths would burn her paws!
Hi Margaret and all,
A very good post for sure. I am going to look
that article up as it sounds very interesting
I too believe that all that is happening right
now is preparing us for the end times. You sure
are on the right track with that. Hope you aer
keeping well and your doggie also. It has been really
hot here up to 100 in the sun with no rain in
sight. Sounds something like the outback down
where you are LOL Good thing we have air-conditioning. Can't take Romeo for a walk as he
gets overheated fast. Take care of yourself and Judy I think that is your dogs name. Keep in touch
I was looking for an old article of Dr Martin’s. I didn’t find what I was looking for, but came across this article, which you might find relevant and interesting. The article, “Why Churches Fall Apart” can be found in the Doctrinal Archive. It was from an audiotape of Dr Martin’s in 1996 transcribed and edited by David Sielaff December 2008. There is associated with it a Newsletter for December 2008 by David. The article stresses the importance of the Scriptures.
What I was looking for was Dr Martin commenting something like it being when people’s beliefs or confidence in their religious institutions are shaken or challenged by events or traumas in their lives, or in the institutions they are associated with that the may be receptive to new ideas, ways of looking at things. I can’t quite remember what he said and I think it might have been on an old audiotape. As I recall, he was talking about approaching the time when the Gospel would start to become known. Although this is not yet the end-time, the current world troubles may be preparing and reorganising the world psychologically, politically and in many other ways towards that time.
