You don't "need" a gun belt, but if you plan to carry your gun in a holster, one will provide the best support. Regular belts aren't rigid enough. Gun belts are designed to support the weight of a gun and make it easier to carry. If you're interested, consider the Ratchet Gun Belt for EDC - Nexbelt, which I think is an excellent and reliable option.
