Weightlifting grips

I just started training with free weights — is it worth using weightlifting grips at all at the start, or is it a crutch that later prevents me from developing my grip? I don’t want to rely on help right away, but blisters in the first week are not inspiring either. What do you think: is it better to include them in the equipment right away or to develop my grip and technique from scratch “honestly”?
